MyBoyCharlie was a very precocious two year old. He ran four times as a two year old winning three times including Group and Group one company. Trained by Tommy Stack MyBoyCharlie was snapped up by John Magnier after his impressive Group three Anglesey Stakes win. He followed that up with a win in France in the Group one Prix Morny and was also third in the Group one National Stakes behind New Approach.
MyBoyCharlie ran five times at three winning only once, making no real impression. He failed to find his form he had at two.
He shares his sire Danetime with another Group one winning two year old and exciting fellow freshman sire Bushranger. MyBoyCharlie is out of Delceata an unraced daughter of Rousillon. She is the dam of six winners with MyBoyCharlie her only black type winner.
MyBoyCharlie's 2nd dam is the Listed winner Snowtop she is the dam and grand dam of multiple Group and Listed horses including the Group one placed pair Kendam and Asset.
His third dam the Group three winner Icing is dam of US Group one winner Al Hareb. She is grand dam of Grade two winners Hayaq and Shibl.
MyBoyCharlie initially stood at the National Stud in UK but is now standing in France at a fee of E5,000 he also shuttles to Australia where from his first southern hemisphere bred crop he sired two stakes placed juveniles. MyBoyCharlie's first yearling sold in 2012 in Northern Hemisphere with his yearlings in demand making six figures such as £160,000, £145,000, £135,000, E75,000 and E80,000 etc.
Trainers have praised his progeny saying they are "well made, precocious types with good minds, real trainers horses". These are encouraging signs.
MyBoyCharlie like his paternal half brother Bushranger should be a serious sire to be named Champion First Crop sire 2013. He should get good two year olds and should sire plenty of winners when ground is suitable, he should be firing a lot of winners by summer. He is a nice asset to French breeders and Is a beautiful looking well made individual capable of getting some high class two year olds, he's a serious sire to watch out as the season progresses.
