Paco Boy

Paco Boy went from winning a conditions race at Newmarket at two years to becoming a triple Group one winner. Paco Boy was a consistent horse from the minute he raced winning two of his three starts as a two year old. Paco Boy was one of those horses that went from "Rags To Riches". Returning at three he scored in  a Listed race at Lingfield following that up in the Group two Lennox Stakes, Greenham and Hungerford Stakes before breaking his Group one duck in the Group one Prix De La Foret in France. Paco Boy ran third to Goldikova in the Group one Prix Du Moulin but was disqualified and placed last. At four Paco Boy ran fourth in the Group one Lockinge Stakes following that win he got off the mark again at Group one level when scoring in the Group one Queen Anne he followed that up with placed efforts in the Group one Sussex Stakes and July Cup. As a five year old Paco Boy raced exclusively at Group one Level getting his season off to a flyer when scoring in the Lockinge Stakes that was to be his last Group one win but he was placed in the Group one Prix De La Foret, Queen Anne, Prix Jaques Le Marois, Prix Du Moulin, he finished his career when running a fine fourth to his old nemesis Goldikova in the Breeders Cup Mile. Through his career Paco Boy raced 23 times winning 11 including three Group ones.

Paco Boy is a son of Desert Style, himself a son of sire of sires Green Desert, Desert Style sired four individual Group one winners during his time he spent as a sire in Ireland , Desert Style now stands in France at a fee of E5,000. Paco Boy is out of Tappen Zee a mare by Sandhurst Prince, she won twice from as many starts and placed four times. she is the dam of Zachouv a 1998 full sister to Paco Boy, she won twice at two and was placed also at two and three, Paco Boy remains his dams only Blacktype winner to date.

Through his 2nd dam Rossaldene Paco Boy's dam is a half sister to Cape Town he is also a son of Desert Style he was a Listed winner and placed in the Group one Irish 2,000 guineas. Rossaldene is also dam of Listed winners Regiment, Greens Fernely, and Lammastide who is the dam of Listed scorer Harvest Warrior, Paco Boy is also related to Gypsy Johnny who was placed in the UAE 2000 guineas. Paco Boy's third dam Palestra is the dam of one blacktype winner in Hungarian Listed winner Perry Gold and also Listed place Cyprus Sky.

Paco Boy retired to stand at Highclere stud for a fee of £8,000 his first foals have been well received at the sales with the highest price being E75,000, his next highest price was £54,000 £50,000 £40,000 etc he has his first yearlings this year.

Paco Boy is an extremely attractive individual who trained on very well to become a Group one winner after winning a conditions race at two, if his offspring show the same enthusiasm as their sire did, they will be a must have in every trainers yard.

Paco Boy looks to be the type of sire that will get two year olds that will progress on and I can see him proving popular in France where he won the Prix De La Foret. I would expect his yearlings to be in demand this coming sales season.
